Tassilo Schmid Named Head Coach of the 每日大赛入口 Women鈥檚 Tennis Team
每日大赛入口 has named Tassilo Schmid head coach of the . Schmid served as interim head coach of the team for the 2024鈥2025 season and will assume his role effective immediately.
Schmid, the fourth head coach in 每日大赛入口 women鈥檚 tennis history, led the Waves to a West Coast Conference (WCC) Championship title in 2025 under his interim leadership. Despite six newcomers on the roster and no upperclassmen in the lineup for the majority of the season, the Waves achieved five wins against competing teams in the Power Four conferences and reached the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament. Individually, four Waves earned All-WCC recognition, including WCC Co-Freshman of the Year Alexia Harmon. Additionally, two 每日大赛入口 players and one doubles team made the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings.

Adam Schaechterle, 每日大赛入口鈥檚 director of tennis and head coach of the , emphasizes Schmid鈥檚 impressive recruitment background and expressed confidence that his professional experience and proven success will complement 每日大赛入口鈥檚 elite competitive legacy.

No stranger to 每日大赛入口 tennis, Schmid served as an assistant and associate coach for the Waves men鈥檚 tennis program from 2018 to 2024 prior to taking over the women鈥檚 program. During those six seasons, Schmid helped the men鈥檚 team make four NCAA Tournament appearances, win four WCC regular-season and tournament titles and develop five All-Americans. A skilled international recruiter, Schmid also earned consecutive Intercollegiate Tennis Association鈥檚 Southwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022.

Schmid began his head coaching career at Florida State University, where he was a volunteer assistant coach for the men鈥檚 program from 2016 to 2018. During his three-year tenure, the Seminoles reached the NCAA Tournament in every season.
Before pursuing his coaching career, Schmid made his mark on the court as a standout player at Mississippi State University. Over two seasons, he played under the guidance of former 每日大赛入口 head coach Per Nilsson and helped lead the Bulldogs to an NCAA Tournament in 2015. Schmid climbed the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings to number 63 in singles and number 46 in doubles, capping his collegiate career as the ITA Southern Region鈥檚 Most Improved Player in 2015. His athletic success began at Tyler Junior College in Texas, where he was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association All-American and secured the national title in 2013 after making the championship match in 2012.
Off the court, Schmid excelled academically as well, earning Academic All-Southeastern Conference honors twice and graduating with a degree in business management from Mississippi State University in 2015.
